Where Does Liz Cheney Live? – Liz Cheney House, Net Worth & More
So honestly speaking.. Not all the politicians make me want to clap but this time I am talking about a very special person. Liz Cheney!! I mean she is the real deal π. Did you know that she gave up her house leadership position, her standing in the Republican party, her congressional seat for what? All to tell the truth! That’s a kind of person that I would want to write about..Β
Today we are going to explore Liz Cheney houses, where she lives, her net worth and more… So let’s get startedβ¦
Where Does Liz Cheney Live? – Liz Cheney House
Although she has many houses, let’s start with her main house where she is currently living. Liz Cheney’s main house is a two story long cabin in Wilson, Wyoming (a small upscale community just a few miles west of Jackson). It is right in the shadow of the glorious Teton Range!π Can you just imagine walking up to the view every single morning! The sunrise? The sunset?
She and her husband Philip Perry bought this house back in 2012 for around 1.9 million dollars. The home is on 2.5 acres of land that includes a four bedroom with four bathrooms and of course those jaw dropping teton views. Some of the best real estate experts note that given how Jackson hall property values have skyrocketed over decades, this home is worth considerably very much high today.
Fact: This house purchase was actually a very big political signal at the time. Liz was living mainly in Virginia. Buying a house in Wyoming means she was planting her roots in the state she would eventually represent in Congress starting in 2017 so it was a strategic and personal move…
She continued living in Wilson after her congressional defeat in 2022, travelling back and forth to Virginia, where she now teaches at a University of Virginia center for politics.
Liz Cheney’s Other House β McLean, Virginia
Now here things get interesting.. The Cheney-Perry family also owns a seven bedroom seven bathroom home in McLean Virginia. It is a complete house with an assuming pool, on a cul-de-sac. It is just about 23 minutes away from the centre of Washington DC. This house has been their base since 2006 right when her husband left his position at the department of homeland security and returned to the powerhouse law firm Latham and Watkins.

Many don’t know that McLean is one of the most prestigious suburbs in the entire DMV area. Think diplomats, senator CIA directors – this is the neighbourhood.. This property is estimated to be worth well around $2 million in today’s market.

Liz Cheney Net Worth β She Is Doing Just Fine!
- ~$20M Estimated Net Worth
- $174K Annual Congressional Salary (2017β2023)
- 7-fig Reported Book Deal (2022)
Alright so! How much does Liz Cheney worth? So I did my research and found out that according to her official congressional finance disclosure reports she assessed a range anywhere between $10.4 million and $48.2 million dollars. I know what you’re thinking.. It is a white band because congressional disclosure reports range rather than precise figures. Most independent analysts and sources like celebrity networks settle on an estimate of experimentally $20 million. Thanks to congressional salary, Fox News commenting contract, book advances and royalties, speaking fees, husband income at Latham and Watkins, real estate.
Facts About Liz Cheney You Probably Don’t Know!
Okay this is my FAVOURITE section. I went deep on research and found some genuinely surprising things about this remarkable woman. Ready?
- She was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Following her work on the January 6th Committee, Cheney was nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize alongside the other committee members for “her defense of freedom and democracy.” A Republican politician, Nobel Peace Prize nominee. Let that sink in!
- President Biden awarded her the Presidential Citizens Medal. On January 2, 2025, President Joe Biden presented her with the Presidential Citizens Medal β one of the highest civilian honours in the United States. A Democrat president honouring a Republican politician. That’s how high her courage was regarded.
- She voted with Trump 97% of the time. Before she became famous for opposing Trump, Liz Cheney was voting in line with his agenda nearly every time. Her resistance was never about general policy β it was specifically and exclusively about democracy and January 6th. That’s a huge distinction most people miss.
- She graduated from the University of Chicago Law School in 1996. Not just any law school β U of C Law is consistently ranked among the top 5 in the country. Her legal foundation is genuinely elite.
- She worked in Poland, Hungary, Russia, and Ukraine during her State Department years. She has hands-on experience in some of the most geopolitically complex countries in the world, not just as a policy wonk but on the ground.
- She ran for Senate in 2013 β and it went badly. She challenged incumbent Senator Mike Enzi in Wyoming, triggering a very public family feud when she opposed her sister Mary’s same-sex marriage. She withdrew from the race in 2014. A very human, complicated chapter.
- She co-founded a national security non-profit with Bill Kristol. In 2009, she co-founded “Keep America Safe” β a hawkish foreign policy advocacy group. She has been a national security thinker for well over a decade, not just a January 6 figure.
- She is now a university professor. Since March 2023, she has been a professor of practice at the University of Virginia Center for Politics. She is literally teaching the next generation of political leaders. I find this SO inspiring.
- She has five children. She and Philip Perry β married since 1993 β have five kids: Philip Jr., Kate, Elizabeth, Grace, and Richard. A genuinely full family life alongside one of the most turbulent political careers in modern American history.
- Her father Dick Cheney also lives in Jackson Hole β he’s had a home there for decades. So Liz’s Wyoming home in Wilson is literally a few minutes from where she grew up spending summers. It’s deeply personal geography, not just political branding.
Final Thoughts
So I want to be upfront because I come to address with genuine admiration for her. When I look at the political landscape today it is generally hard to find someone who gave up real power for real principle and Liz did that. She walked away from her leadership position and her standing in a party she had devoted her career to – because she believed it was the right thing to do.. and looking at where she lives, gorgeous long cabin in wyoming near her parents near the mountains – she did not retreat to her cushy DC bubble after losing.. start each date in the community started teaching started writing and she remains engaged and productive..
